Certificate Verification
Verify the authenticity of a certificate issued through Evencia using a QR code or verification link.
Overview
Every certificate generated by Evencia includes a unique QR code. Anyone who receives a certificate — or needs to confirm its validity — can scan the QR code or open the verification link to check whether the certificate is genuine, who it was issued to, and whether it has been revoked.
The verification page is public. No account or login is required to verify a certificate.
How to verify a certificate
Option 1 — Scan the QR code
- Open a QR code scanner on your phone (most phone cameras do this automatically).
- Point it at the QR code printed on the certificate.
- The verification page opens in your browser.
Option 2 — Open the verification link
If the certificate was shared digitally (for example, as a PDF), the QR code encodes a URL. Open that URL in any browser to reach the verification page.
What the verification page shows
The verification page displays the following information about the certificate:
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Certificate Number | The unique identifier assigned to this certificate. |
| Recipient | The name of the guest the certificate was issued to. |
| Event | The name of the event. |
| Event Date | The date of the event. |
| Issue Date | The date the certificate was generated. |
| Status | Whether the certificate is valid, revoked, or has another status. |
Verification outcomes
Certificate is valid
A green tick icon and the message "Certificate Verified" are shown. The certificate is authentic and has not been revoked.
Certificate has been revoked
A red X icon and the message "Certificate Revoked" are shown. This certificate is no longer valid. If a revocation reason was recorded by the event organiser, it is shown on the page.
Requirements not met
An alert icon and the message "Requirements Not Met" are shown. This certificate exists in the system but could not be issued because the guest did not meet the required conditions. The specific unmet conditions are listed on the page.
Certificate not found
A red X icon and the message "Certificate Not Found" are shown. The verification code in the link does not match any certificate in the system. The certificate may be a forgery, or the link may be damaged.
For event organisers
The QR code on each generated certificate automatically links to the correct verification page. You do not need to configure anything — the verification link is embedded in every certificate at generation time.
The verification page remains accessible as long as the certificate record exists in Evencia, even if the ZIP file used to download the certificate has expired or been deleted.
Common issues
The QR code does not scan
- Make sure the certificate is fully visible and not folded or creased over the QR code area.
- Try increasing the screen brightness if you are verifying from a screen.
- Use the camera's built-in QR scanner rather than a third-party app — it is usually faster and more reliable.
The verification page shows "Certificate Not Found"
- The link may have been truncated or damaged. Try scanning the QR code directly from the printed or digital certificate.
- If you believe the certificate was legitimately issued, contact the event organiser to confirm.
The certificate shows as "Revoked" but I believe it should be valid
Contact the event organiser. Certificates can be revoked and un-revoked by authorised staff. The organiser can check the status and restore the certificate if it was revoked in error.
