Message Logs
See every WhatsApp message sent or received for your event.
Overview
Message Logs show you a complete record of every WhatsApp message connected to your event — both messages you sent to guests and messages guests sent back to you. Use this section to check whether a specific message was delivered, investigate failed messages, and review the full history of your WhatsApp communications.
Where to find it
Go to WhatsApp, then select the Message Logs tab.
Before you start
- You need the whatsapp.view-logs permission to access Message Logs.
Statistics overview
At the top of the Message Logs page, you will see summary cards for the event:
| Stat | What it means |
|---|---|
| Total | Total number of messages logged. |
| Sent | Messages that were accepted and sent. |
| Delivered | Messages confirmed as received on the guest's device. |
| Read | Messages that the guest opened. |
| Failed | Messages that could not be delivered. |
| Inbound | Messages sent by guests to your event. |
Reading the log table
The log table shows one row per message with the following columns:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Guest | The guest's name, or their phone number if no name is available. |
| Direction | Whether the message was Outbound (you sent it) or Inbound (the guest sent it). |
| Campaign | The campaign the message was part of, or "System Auto Message" for individual sends. |
| Status | The current delivery status of the message. |
| Sent | The date and time the message was logged. |
Message statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Queued | The message is waiting to be sent. |
| Sent | The message has been accepted by WhatsApp's servers. |
| Delivered | The message has arrived on the guest's phone. |
| Read | The guest has opened the message. |
| Received | An inbound message was received from the guest. |
| Failed | The message could not be delivered. |
Viewing a message preview
Select the eye icon on any log row to see a preview of the message content. The preview shows:
- The message layout as it appeared to the guest (header, body text, footer, and any buttons).
- The direction and status of the message.
- The delivery status history — a timeline showing each step from queued to sent, delivered, and read.
- Any error message if the send failed.
Searching the logs
Use the search bar above the table to filter log entries. The search looks at guest names and phone numbers.
Navigating large logs
If there are many messages, use the Previous and Next buttons at the bottom of the page to move between pages.
Common problems
A message shows "Failed" — what happened?
Select the eye icon to open the message preview. The error message at the bottom of the preview will explain why the message could not be delivered. Common causes include:
- The guest's phone number is invalid or unreachable.
- The guest's WhatsApp account is not active.
- The template was not approved or was modified after sending.
A message shows "Sent" but the guest says they didn't receive it
The message was accepted by WhatsApp's servers. Delivery depends on the guest's device and connection. If the status stays on "Sent" for a long time without moving to "Delivered", the guest's phone may be offline or their WhatsApp may have been uninstalled.
